Race and Justice: Show Ups in Denver

Together Colorado and Shorter Community AME Church present Race and Justice: Show Ups in Denver, a community meeting on the unjust identification practice of '"show ups" in Denver.

We are gathering community members, faith leaders, law enforcement, and elected officials to address a troubling policing procedure used in the field to identify perpetrators of a crime, known as "show ups," that criminalizes Black, Brown, and poor people.

Show ups have been proven to be an unreliable method of identifying suspects. It harms members in our communities who are Black, Brown, and poor. The threat this poses to people who might loosely “fit the description” is grave because it routinely misidentifies innocent people.

Our hope is to collaborate with our elected officials for meaningful criminal justice reform. Please join us on Nov. 14 at 6:00PM.
